Project Cost Accountant
Volt Telecommunications is seeking a self-directed individual to be responsible for all aspects of the cost accounting and reporting systems for a $180M telecommunications operation. This person will ensure that revenue, Cost of Sales, Gross Margin, Inventory, Inventory Loss Reserves and Percent of Completion balances are properly recorded, controlled and presented to Sr. Management.

Responsibilities include:

Setting up and closing projects in the ERP system, preparing journal entries, cost and revenue accruals, % of completion adjustments & corresponding reconciliations. Special projects as assigned. Weekly Project meetings are held with the VP of Construction West, specified Program Directors, Project and Area Managers. Topics include: Billings for the week, failed inspection reports and performance issues, Key customer issues, status of active jobs, and current job results. Minimal travel required up to 5-10%.

You will also assist in the preparation of the operations budget, quarterly/annual financial audits and help document internal corporate cost accounting procedure manuals.
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but on a daily basis does work closely with accounting, audit, operations personnel and management.

Requirements:

• Strong systems skills in database management using Excel & MS-Access
• Bachelors Degree from an accredited 4-Year University and 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of job/construction cost accounting
• Excellent experience in job costing, AP/AR, and assisting with month end close
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel and Access)
• Basic knowledge of spreadsheet development and database management
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a team atmosphere
• Experience with client invoicing
• Ability to multi-task and organize workload
• Ability to meet deadlines
